The students from Saibaba Path MPS come from families earning less than 8000 rupees per month of which 40-60% goes on accommodation in the Parel area. A large percentage of the parents of the children are former mill workers who have had to find alternative employment. Some are daily wage laborers and some are self employed. Most families live on less than 100 Rupees per day. According to the last official census, 70% of the population lived on less than this amount.
Parents are typically drivers, taxi drivers, small shopkeepers, and a few skilled workers.
Typical occupations of parents would include; taxi drivers; delivery boys, domestic workers; street stall workers and office support staff.
